Last minute Birmingham trip

Now now, after the London trip, i followed Jessy back to Birmingham. It's the 2nd largest city, after London. It is really a big city with loads to do. There's an Art Gallery, Jewellery Quarter, China Town, Shopping Complex, Clubs and Bar and Restaurants. A very interesting city.

On the left is the art gallery and the right is the court house, red court house. The 2nd pic is my tour guide for the day who provided me with a place to live in for 2 nights i was there and the picture next to it apparently used to be a guard house. That'll be St. George's church in the middle of the 2nd row.

We did some night photography, exploring our camera capabilities and also our skill. Night view's beautiful. Then we went to Hard Rock Cafe as well to look at some T-shirts. I thought of getting one, for my collection but there aren't any nice ones. Should i get one of those typical baby-T anyway? While walking back from the night walk enjoying the night view, we saw many girls wearing tight skimpy skirt and tube dress or top, with the cold wind blowing, looks like they were freezing but didn't bother with their jackets... I think they were going clubbing that's why..

Dont'you think these flowers are beautiful.. Well, i appreciate beautiful flowers.. and... men!! Haha. Oh yeah.. we were about to go into the botanical gardens but we there's an entrace fee so we didn't bother. Just took pictures outside. :)

You must be wondering about the picture with the feet. Well, i like taking pictures of feet but this pic has more to it. My dear 'tour guide' was wearing her new shoes which got her some blisters. We walking for 45 minutes to her uni and she stopped for a zillion times cause it hurts so bad. Finally after her class, we gotta take the bus back to her place for her to change into some more comfortable shoes. Girls!! ;)

That'll be the bull ring and cathedral.

You see me eating again. I have been eating non stop since i got to London and Birmingham. I ate so much in London and when i get to Birmingham, i see more food. I had my lovely ice-cream at Bens and Jerry. Then the banoffee eclair from Druckers and fusion food at Wagamama near the Bull Ring. Oh, the pic below, we were having steak and drinks for six pounds. My sirloin steak was juicy sweet. MMMmm... yum...then later went to meet up with Hanniyah's friend, Brasilian lady who was leaving for Germany in 2 days. So we met up at Las Iguanas, a Latin bar and restaurant. I love that place. They play salsa and samba music in the background and serves latin drinks and cocktail. I got myself a Jamaican Passion cocktail, a special mix by the Cuban bartender. :) Sweet!!!

Quote from the Cuban bartender :- "Anything with passion is good.."

London trip

The university organised a free trip to London on Sunday for the international students. It's pretty cool, isn't it. The coach dropped us in front of the London Eye. Haven't had the chance to ride the london eye. I think it is pretty expensive.

Later, my dear friend took me to Covent Garden, Oxford circus, trafalgar square, leicester square, China town. Went to meet up with one of my schoolmate i haven't seen in a while. It was really good to be able to catch up. One place i would like to go to is Camden Town and Carnaby street. I walked pass Carnaby street in the evening where all the shops were closed. Was a waste we didn't have time to go there earlier. But i guess i am able to go back anytime soon.

We were suppose to go watch a musical or play at the theatre but couldn't manage to cause of time constraints. So we decided to go to a friend's place to watch 'The Producer' on DVD instead. We went to Sainsbury and get some wine. We had ernest & julio's rose wine, while watching the producer and i was so tired, i fell asleep on the couch. I like that place. It's like a hotel with very comfortable bed and duvet. I really didn't feel like going back to Hatfield after staying there for one night. There's TV to watch, comedies back to back... great place really, near everywhere, very convenient. It's in Victoria!

Hertfordshire's oldest town

St. Albans is the oldest town in Hertfordshire and it has a huge Cathedral, named after St. Albans himself. The cathedral was ready in 1115 which makes it really really old.. It's a beautiful cathedral of great history and art.

The market place was loads of fun too.. There were many stalls selling great stuff and fruits and vegetables and meat too.. there were some street performers. They were really good. So had FUN!! There were little shops by the street selling very authentic stuff which ain't cheap but i love 'em. Well, it's good for window shopping.

Oh, it was also my first time eating fresh rasberries. The girl at the far right, she's cookiong some Moroocan dish which by the way smells darn delicious. It's cooked in the Tajines, the traditional Moroccan steam cookers. The aroma will draw you to that stall.. Pretty amazing

100% Design Exhibition

The 100% design exhibition was a great experience for me since it was my first time attending an exhibition in London. The exhibition centre in Earls Court was rather huge. There were many different designs to look at and to expose myself. There were some very interesting booths that i saw. Well, couldn't take pictures in the exhibition but i took some, in the 100% lighting exhibition.

Packing and getting here

I thought packing my bag was easy cause i needed only 15 minutes to pack for 3 or 5 days trips. But it really was a challenge, fitting everything in one luggage, especially when i am packing for a year... AND not to mension, it has to be maximum 30kgs. Mine was 10kgs over weight!!! it was 8 kgs overweight when i weigh it at home. Well, i had to repack in the airport. The lady wouldn't let me check in my luggage. SO i had to pull out whatever i thought i might not need yet.

Oh well,i got through anyway. The journey here was a long one. The seats on the plane ain't that big for me to toss around. so my ass was hurting after the flight.

At least everything is going on very smoothly for me since i arrive, which i think is great. Met many friends from around the world; China, Japan, Pakistan, Spain, France, Italy, Malta, Indonesia, Germany, Philipines, Iran, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia and many many more. Interesting!!

These are just some very few pictures i took with my new friends on the orientation week. You might wanna see the new place i am staying in. That's the view from my room window. And the other pics on the right is my room fromt he inside. It's pretty alright.

Couples with Thalassaemia

A doctor was telling me about thalassaemia today. I am sure many of you dont know what thalassaemia is. Click on the link above and you will understand more. It's sort of an alteration of the blood cell once upon a time where Malaria was causing too may deaths. Some people's blood cell sort of altered itself to survive from the Malaria. The blood cells became smaller in size where the virus could not affect the red blood cell and so it wouldn't burst. People with Thalessaemia will not die of Malaria. But what's negative about this is that two persons with Thalassaemia traits are advised not to have baby together cause 25% chance is that the kid will be a thalessaemia major meaning the kid will not survive over 20 years old of age. There's a cure for that but its not a 100% thing. 50% chance that the baby will be a thalassaemia inheritant and 25% will be normal. Unless the couple would like to take the chance and try their luck, it is really not advisable to do so. Adoption might be the answer to couples with thalasaemia traits. So be careful, people with thalassaemia traits. Ask your partner to go for a blood test before you decide on anything.

Chomp chomp Sing

Landed back on the ground of my hometown after a 3 days trip to Singapore. It was just the usual trip where i tag along with my mum since she has to go to Singapore for some checkup. So we stayed at Jalan Lada Puteh (Pepper Road... :D) behind Lucky Plaza.. Hahaha.. what a road name.. Pepper Road?!! The road beside it is Jalan Kayu Manis (Cinnamon Road). What else is there!!! Maybe there should be Bay Leaf Road.. :) Oh well, anyway it's a good location to stay in for a couple of days since it's right behind Orchard Road where Taka and everything else is so nearby.

I won't be writing about any tourism spots or clubbing spots since i didn't do any of those except walk around Orchard Road, mainly in Takasimaya or chilling at some dessert house or food stores.. Most of my time is spent in the hospital anyway.

Oh well, since i spent so much time eating, i would start off with one of my favourites. I would usually order mango pudding for dessert if i have dinner in a chinese restaurant. That is if my stomach still has room after dinner. I shall cutoff the long-windedness and get back to my main topic. MANGO PUDDING!!! I'll tell you where to get the best mango pudding dessert that has chunks of mango in it.. Gosh, even my sis agrees with me.. It's the Crystal Jade Kitchen in Takasimaya of Singapore. Phew... i had one after dinner and one after lunch the next day.. :D couldn't resist!!!

Another one of my favourites is Mos Burger, a Japanese burger chain!!! I really like the burgers there. The burgers taste so good and are very juicy. And it's healthier than any other burgers (McD or KFC or Ramlee).

What's on the advert is this:
Oyako Rice Burger
say 'oh-yah-ko'
Enjoy the traditional Japanese taste of home-style 'oyaho-don'. Tender diced chicken teriyaki is irresistably teamed with sliced onion and eggs, all nestling between a fluffy rice burger. It's oishii.... it's Oyako Rice Burger!!!
I really like the advert.. Especially the picture of the burger.... MMMmmmmmmm..

Beard Papa's cream puff and chocolate eclair was yum yum.. I saw the tiramisu too and it looks darn delicious!!! Too bad my stomach's not that big, or else i would have taken some extra bites of other stuff..

Other than the great food i had in Singapore, there were some other yummy chomp chomp i saw... hehe.. it was raining that day and so we ran to the nearest cineplex, the Cathay Cineplex at Ochard for a movie. Was gonna watch 'You, Me and Dupree' but it wasn't showing yet so we bought tickets for 'Devil Wears Prada' instead. We were hanging around the building, listening to some music at a music store and bought ourselves some CDs. When time's up for the movie, we decided to take the elevator up to the 6th floor. Well well, this is when my yummy chomp chomp walked in... :) A tall Keanu Reeves look alike with dark brown hair, wearing board shorts walked in to the elevator.. Phew!!!! And whoa..he has got some handsome voice.. Mmmm mmmmm... If you were eondering how i knew what he sounded like, he kinda asked which floor Nike was at.. so.. yeah...
